Drum Roll Please ! Without further Ado-Myah

Well, we have her ! Gotcha Day was so surreal.
We all went on the bus to the Orphanage Center. We were notified that all the children were there except Myah. It was nerve-racking watching the other couples interact with their children during this wait. As we waited, our emotions continued to build and just when I thought that we couldn’t take anymore, there was Myah! She is gorgeous! She has the most beautiful eyes..! When I finally held her in my arms all my doubts, fears and concerns disappeared. She is our child....

The surprise is that she wanted nothing to do with me. She wanted Hank and Hank only. Her orphanage director is a man and has a confort zone with men. I was taken back, I wanted to hold her but she wanted nothing to do with me..until I pulled out lollipops. She was hesitant at first and kept her eyes on Hank. But she eventually came to me with ease.

What we know about Myah:

1. She knows how to say "No"
2. She loves fruit loops
3. She hates orange juice
4. She is still in diapers
5. She doesn't walk very well. Her developmental skills are about 6-9 months delay
6. She like when I hum to her
7. She loves her DADDY
8. She like combing her hair (she's grandma's girl for sure)
9. She loves baths
10. She loves raisins
11. Her size is a 3T
12. She is tall for her age
13. She is a vegetarian
14. She can say Mamma
15. She is going to love her brothers
16. loves the blow dryer
17. she doesn't like things out of order...
18. she loves french fries
19. doesn't like to share her food
20. cleans up after herself
21. loves hats and shoes

This experience has taught us that there are times in life we need to trust where our hearts lead us and have the faith in believing that everything happens for a greater good.

We are multi-racial family: we are visibly different so our adoption would be a public fact. Our daughter's heritage is different from our own. We will teach Myah to be proud of both her Chinese and her American self. Myah has indeed enriched our lives. We are so blessed!!!!

Myah is emerging from the her layers, she smiles and looks out the window with a curiosity I havn't seen before. Seeing her enter the world for the first time. She plays with everything—brushes, tries on shoes, she can communicate No, she doesnt like her stuff touched.

We went from an image of a dream daughter, to the substance of her presence..Dreams do come true..

PS: Would you mind if I copied and pasted the cartoon of the plane ride to my blog (the one about waving your arms like you just don't care)? It's hysterically funny!

Jen, be my guest..you may copy anything on my blog..
Funny story, I was in the white swan eating with my husband and someone recognized me from my blog. She said, you're the lady with the panic button on her blog...I answered back in Chinese (or what I thought chinese would sound like) and she just stood there..motionless..Until I let her off the hook..I think she said she was with Asia adopt agency...

Rina, you are too funny! I can only imagine what that woman was thinking when you talked to her in "Chinese"! I wish I had your quick wit. Have fun (as if that would be a problem)! I can't wait to follow the rest of your journey! And thanks for letting me "borrow" some of your blog pics. Now I can spice mine up a bit with some humor - greatly needed after this looooong wait!
