PICC line was unsuccessful !
Let me start off by saying that I spoke to a gazillion doctors today expressing my fears of todays procedures. I tried to explain that not only would it be traumatic but I was worried about her psychological well being. She has been through so much ..she has only been home for 5 months. They all looked at me like I had 10 heads. I was told that this is a Childrens Hospital and that almost every child has a PICC line. They havent had any issues with other children and they didnt predict one with mine....
for those who know Myah know that she is a soft spoken child..she grew up in a cultural "quiet" environment..she is very fragile and dainty...
anyhow we get wheeled into radiology and she started getting agitated..which led to her freaking out...they assured me that the the morphine and versed would kick in ..they gave her more meds...waited...a little more meds....waited...fast forward 2 1/2 hours..She was an animal..She was papoosed and restrained on a papoose board..She was not able to use her arms or legs...but she improvised...She started head butting the nurses, wiggling uncontrollably under the papoose and finally spitting in their faces...I was crying and didnt know when enough was enough..over 2 hours...she has sutures all over her body, in pain and she is trying to survive the best she knows how...
she might not be flesh of my flesh ...or bone of my bone..but she is ALL HER MOTHER !
She was giving them the best fight ever..Finally one of the nurses poked her head up..tears flowing and said she could not do this...She stopped the procedure...
Bottom line...MOMMY KNOWS BEST !..I called patient advocate after
we left the procedure room...We are doing things Mommy's way..I am not here to make friends..I am here to get the best medical care for my daughter and keep her sane at the same time...
She is scheduled for the operating room tomorrow where they will put her under general anesthesia and insert her PICC.
Meanwhile it has been 3 days since she ate or drank and she has been asking me hourly to be fed...What does a mother say?

Oh my gosh you were certainly right! I couldn't imagine your frustration and Myah's during that. Thank goodness she won't have to endure it again.
Wow, Rina. What a day! That should not happen a children's hospital....it shouldn't take 2 hours for them to realize that this is not a good idea! I can not believe you and Myah had to go through that. My heart is with you! My prayers too!
